Research overview
Research overview brings your saved Case Studies into one view. Each card combines a recorded backtest result with the research checks and next step for that study.
Location: Dashboard → Research overview.
Start your first study
Section titled “Start your first study”If your account has no studies, a starting card offers two paths:
- Start with Algo Agent opens a new, empty conversation in Algo Lab. Describe your strategy idea, market, testing period and constraints before asking the agent to begin. Opening the conversation does not submit a prompt or start a research run. Agent actions require available AI credits.
- Connect MCP, available with Professional or equivalent MCP access, opens the connection page for your own AI client. Follow MCP client setup to connect and begin research from there.
A list with no filter matches is different from an account with no studies. Clear or reset filters to see other active studies. Choose All or Archived in Study status to include archived studies.
Find a study
Section titled “Find a study”Search study titles or filter by study symbol, timeframe, study status and session history status. The symbol selector contains symbols recorded in your studies. Choose Apply filters to update the results, or Reset to clear the filters.
On wide screens, use One column or Two columns beside the sort control to choose the card layout. Your browser remembers the selection. Narrow screens always show one column.
Choose a sort order:
| Sort | What it orders |
|---|---|
| Recently updated | Studies with the latest changes first. |
| Backtest return | The displayed saved backtest return, highest first. Studies without a return appear last. |
| Validation progress | The number of required research checks passed, highest first. |
Read a study card
Section titled “Read a study card”Backtest results shows return, profit factor, maximum drawdown, trades and win rate from a saved trial. By default, this is the latest successful trial by save time, rather than the best trial. The details underneath identify the symbol, timeframe, testing dates and recorded costs. Missing measurements are not treated as zero.
Report opens that saved trial in Algo Lab. If historical market data needs to load, wait for the report to finish loading. An account may need a connected market-data provider; see account integrations.
Refresh reads the study’s current research progress. The backtest result and the research checks can describe different saved versions or configurations, so inspect the underlying evidence before comparing them.
Follow your research journey
Section titled “Follow your research journey”The journey groups checks into Backtest, Validate and Forward testing. A circle’s fraction counts checks with results, not checks passed. The colors distinguish recorded results, passed checks and failed checks.
Research context is collapsed by default below the card’s Versions and trials controls. The expanded Evidence scope identifies a selected strategy configuration or run-wide evidence. A short notice highlights a restricted confirmation window, relaxed evidence policy or profit-concentration concern when recorded. Expand it to inspect the declared confirmation dates, policy context and saved large-trade dependency results. Missing values remain “Not recorded”; a saved dependency pass does not establish strategy validation. View full Case Study opens the detailed research view, including the recorded reasons and next actions.
Gate names and info tooltips use the same gate catalog as Case Study, including Baseline profile, Candidate evaluation and Bootstrap confidence. Gate badges, filters and status colors show the recorded test outcome when available: Passed or Failed. System compatibility diagnostics stay in the developer view. A passing test alone does not establish overall strategy validation.
Select a stage to inspect its checks; select that stage again to collapse the list and clear its filters. Under Research gates, select open, failed, not run, to review, passed or All to open the matching list. Select the active chip again to clear the selection and collapse the list. No chip is selected initially.
For a check that needs attention, Continue with Algo Agent opens a fresh conversation attached to the study and prefills a request identifying the research run and check. Review the request before sending it; opening the conversation does not run a test. Copy request for agent remains available for your own AI client.
The Next label beside Your research journey names the next research milestone. Versions and trials lets you inspect saved iterations, and Compare opens the study comparison workflow. See Case Studies for preserving an investigation and Algo Agent for continuing one.
Keep an eye on research from the Hub
Section titled “Keep an eye on research from the Hub”The Hub’s Your research section shows up to three active studies:
- Latest follows recent changes.
- Most progress follows required checks passed.
- Highest return follows the latest saved backtest returns.
Each compact card shows its saved return and current research summary. Report opens the saved backtest; View all opens Research overview using the same sort order. Archived studies remain available through the overview’s study-status filter.
Follow the complete research flow
Section titled “Follow the complete research flow”See Strategy research workflow for the sequence from hypothesis and protocol to experiments, evidence gates and human review.
